Cricut Design Space - Cricut Design Space Download

Cricut Design Space is Cricut’s proprietary design software (and corresponding app). It is required in order to:

• Set up your new Cricut machine

• Register your new Cricut machine

• Update your Cricut machine with newly-released updates

• Design your projects, and

• Run your Cricut machine in order to make your projects

When using a Cricut-brand cutting machine, Cricut Design Space Download is not optional nor is there any other program you can use. In fact, you will be prompted to install it as as part of your initial machine setup and product registration.

The Cricut Design Space software is available for both Windows and iOS operating systems.

The Cricut Design Space App is available for both Apple (iPhone, iPad) and Android devices.

When you first unbox your new Cricut machine, the get-started guide (from inside the box) will prompt you to download the appropriate software for your device and create a Cricut Design Space account. If for some reason, you need to re-install the software, you can download both the software and app

A vast majority of the functions and tools available in the computer-based software are also available in the app. However, the two platforms do operate a bit differently, so you will need to learn how to navigate each one. There are a few tools (e.g., curved text) that are not supported in the app, but updates to the mobile software are improving every day. Additionally, you can save your projects “to the cloud,” meaning you can open, design, and run your projects from either the computer software or the mobile app at any time.

The Cricut Design Space software and app are free to download and install on your computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device. As such, getting set up and running your machine does not require any additional payments.

So, What Does Costs Money in Cricut Design Space?

What does cost money within Cricut Design Space are the images and fonts you may want to use on your projects. A vast majority of Cricut image and fonts require follow-on payment, typically ranging from $0.99/image to $4.99/font, and $29.99+ for an entire “set” of images.

Purchasing images and fonts can be done on an a la carte basis (i.e., one at a time as you need them), as a set, OR you can purchase a Cricut Access Membership to have access to the entire Cricut Design Space Image Library for a monthly/annual fee.

What is Cricut Access?

Cricut Access is essentially “membership” access to most of the images and fonts within the Cricut Design Space Library. Instead of paying for individual graphics as you need them, you instead pay a monthly or annual fee in order to access everything. If you create a lot and/or don’t enjoy being charged for every single design you use, a Cricut Access Membership is more than worth it!

Can I Use Cricut Design Space for Free?

Yes! While most images and fonts will have a charge, there are lots and lots of images and fonts available to cut for free within Cricut Design Space. Cricut also “releases” free images weekly, and you can upload images you download from other sites (e.g., Etsy, blogs, Creative Market, etc).

Method To Download and Install Cricut Design Space

For Windows:

1. For this, first you have to open an internet browser and then visit to cricut.com/setup.

2. Now, you should choose Download option. Keep in mind during the download, you will find that the screen will change.

3. After the download, you should double-tap on the file in the browser or in Download folder.

4. In case, a window opens and prompts if you trust the application, then you should choose the option to trust the application.

5. You will find that setup window shows installation progress.

6. Here, you should Sign in with your Cricut ID and password.

7. Then, you will find that the Design Space for Desktop icon gets added to your desktop screen.

8. At this point, you should right-tap on the icon and then select Pin to Taskbar.

9. Now, you can enjoy using Design Space for Windows.

For Mac:

1. First of all, you should open an internet browser and then go to cricut.com/setup.

2. After this, you should choose Download option. Then you will find that the screen will change, when the application file is downloaded.

3. If the download is finished, then double-tap on the .dmg file in the browser or in the Downloads folder.

4. Now, you should drag the Cricut icon to Applications folder icon to start the installation. Then, you will find that Design Space for Desktop gets added to your Applications folder.

5. To launch Design Space for Desktop, you should double-tap on Cricut Design Space in your Applications folder. In order to create a shortcut, you should drag the application to your dock. 

6. Here, it will ask if you want to open the application which is downloaded from internet. Then, choose Open option to continue.

7. At last, Sign in with your Cricut ID and password and just enjoy the Design Space for Desktop.

For iOS:

1. The user should hit on the App Store icon which is in your iOS device home screen in order to open the App Store.

2. Now, you should look for Cricut Design Space. The Cricut Design Space app displays as White Square with a green Cricut "C" logo in the center.

3. Now, you should hit on the Get button in order to download the app and just check the download with your iTunes password.

4. When the download is finished, then the app will launch and it will show options for finishing the New Machine Setup.

5. At last, you should hit on the "X" which is located in the upper right side in order to go to the landing page, sign in and then begin the designing.

For Android:

1. The user should hit on the Google Play Store icon in your device home screen in order to open the Play Store.

2. Now, you should look for Cricut Design Space. You will view the Cricut Design Space app comes up with a white square which has green Cricut "C" logo in the center.

3. Here, you should hit on the Install button in order to download and install the app.

4. When the installation is finished, then the app will display on your App Home Screen.

5. At last, you should hit on the icon in order to open the app, sign in and just start the designing.
